Rajesh Nair
Rajesh Nair, born 12th August 1978, is an Indian film producer and director, best known for his movies Escape from Uganda (2013), Salt Mango Tree (2015) and Kalyanam (2018). Over the course of his five-year-long cinematic career, Nair has produced three movies and directed four feature films. Since 2012, he has been a company director of two production houses, Vaya Films Ltd and Meru Motion Pictures. Before he made a career in the movies, Rajesh Nair was an accomplished CEO of Uganda-based Tembo Steel Limited, one of East Africa's largest companies with an interest in manufacturing hot and cold rolled profiles. Nair served this company for eight consecutive years, during which he held two corporate roles - Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure at Tembo Steel Limited and thanks to his professional contributions, the company has become the second largest exporter of steel products from Uganda. Nair also worked as the Chief Marketing Manager of Roofings Limited, a manufacturing giant from the Ugandan steel industry, where he stayed for another six years. Trading steel manufacturing for show business, Nair took a leap into the entertainment industry nearly a decade ago, when he started working as a Managing Director at Impressario Uganda Limited. Since then, he was a franchise holder of Miss India Worldwide for Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania and one of key organizers of an Indian lifestyle TV event Zee Mantra. Nair's expertise and experience in business administration and international marketing were crucial for his immediate success in this new line of work. At the entertainment industry, he finally got a chance to explore his lifelong passion for movies.
