Shashwita Sharma
Shashwita sharma is a Professional Actor in Theatre, Film & Television. Born into a rich tradition of music, she is trained in Hindustani Classical Music (vocal) by her Mother/Guru Dr Neelima Sharma.
While graduating from Delhi University, she trained under Kathak Maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj. Currently she is learning & performing Banaras gharana style from Guru Vaibhav Joshi ji.
Her film and television career comprises films like Nirdosh, Sanam Re, Shamitabh, Hate story 2 & a documentary for National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). Her major breakthrough role was in the television daily series 'Maryada-lekin kab tak' for Star Plus, for which she was nominated in Star Parivar Awards. She was acclaimed for portraying the negative lead Gaganpreet in 'Bani-ishq da kalma' on Colors Channel. Her stint as a dark skinned-complexed woman, who talks about racial discrimination on Zee Tv's show 'Doli armano Ki' gathered immense response globally. Last year, she made an appearance on 'Courtroom' - a Tv series on Colors channel in the role of a Cyber Crime Expert.
As far as the roles are concerned, she has always experimented with the range of characters. From genres like comedy, fantasy, family dramas, her favourite remains the character of an honest, hardworking Cop, in the series Crime Patrol Satark, which continues to air on Sony Tv.
She is also the Co-Founder of 'Jashn-E-Qalam', a storytelling collective. Her Solo Performances of short stories from Hindustani Literature, has enthralled audiences in the country's major Art & literature festivals, theatres & communities. She recognizes Storytelling as the most powerful and effective way of bringing about change in the world.
