Thomas Corey Robinson

Thomas Corey Robinson

Thomas Corey Robinson graduated from Winyah High School. He enjoyed singing and while in high school auditioned successfully and became a part of the South Carolina All-State Choir. His father was also singer and member of the group, James Wilson and the Gospelairs. He studied at the University of South Carolina where he received his BA in Political Science and History with the intention of becoming an attorney. While there, he sang with Carolina Alive and had the good fortune of being a performer at President Reagan's second Inagural Ball, performing background concert vocals for Foreigner and singing with his good friend Darius Rucker of Hooty and the Blowfish. After nearly completing his degree requirements, he took an acting course on a whim during his senior year and felt he had found his life's passion. He continued to do productions at the University until he graduated and then started doing community theatre. He was a featured soloist in a tribute concert for Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sarah Brightman and Michael Eisner, and as fate would have it, he would years later meet Eisner again as a Disney performer. Thomas then decided he needed professional training as an actor and attended Temple University in Philadelphia where he received his MFA in acting. While studying here, he made his professional stage debut as Oedipus in "Oedipus the King" at the Wilma Theatre. His work at the Freedom Repertory Theatre included Joseph in "Black Nativity" for which he received a Barrrymore Award nomination (Philadelphia's area award for excellence in the theatre). After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue television and film, and quickly landed HARRIETT'S RETURN at the Geffen Theatre with Debbie Allen. He has worked at the Mark Taper Forum, The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, White River Theatre Festival, and at Theatre Virginia as "Brick" in the first known all black production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" .
