Maia Abbas
Maia is an Iraqi-born Australian actor and filmmaker who will appear as the heroine of France, Jeanne D'Arc, in the French period piece Land of Nod.
She has also appeared in the NBC mini-series Fires (2021), has acted alongside Abbie Cornish in Secret Bridesmaids' Business (2019), and starred as Nasrin in the Aussie dramedy Fresh! (2018), in which she won Best Actress at the Stareable Fest and the series was the official selection at the LA Film Festival and the NYC Web Fest.
Maia went on to act in and direct her debut TrichotilloMAIA (2018), an edgy experimental film which landed her Best Actor Award in CFI Film Festival. She then took on the role of Assistant Director for the short film, The Fall (2020) which was a finalist at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy Awards for Australian Shorts.
Maia speaks four languages including Arabic, French, and Malay, and is the co-founder of Exodus Films.
