Filipp Avdeev
Born 1991 in Moscow, Philipp (also spelled as 'Filipp') Avdeev began his acting career as a child on stage, in cinema and TV-series. In 2008 he entered the Moscow Art Theatre School, Kirill Serebrennikov's class later transformed into the Studio Seven theater company. In 2012, after graduation, together with the Studio Seven he joined Moscow's Gogol Center Theater that was named 'a cornerstone of Moscow's theater scene' by The New York Times in 2015. On its stage in collaboration with two other actors, Alexander Gorchilin and Igor Bychkov, he debuted as a theater director with «Iolanta/Opus» in 2016. A year later, this time by himself, Philipp directed «The Sea of Trees» there. He continued his career in cinema as well. Three of the films with him playing leading roles brought Philipp success and critical acclaim. In 2015 'Correction class' was nominated for 'the Best Russian Drama of the Year' at the Russian National Movie Awards and a few more nominations at the national and international film festivals. His next film, 'Leto', was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival and later took part in numerous film festivals as well. Premiered in 2018 'Kislota' won «Kinotavr. Debut» nomination at the main Russian national film festival Kinotavr and was screened in the Berlinale's Panorama section later that year.
