Kate Fenton
Kate Fenton began her career as part of the inaugural Humber College Comedy Program. After graduating she was nominated for a Phil Hartman Award. Kate holds an MFA in acting from York University, she is a graduate of the Second City Longform Conservatory and Sketch and Improv Conservatory. She has trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and The ProActors Lab. She is the co-founder and former Artistic Director of the Dora Award winning company The Quickening Theatre. As a company member Kate's contribution was as playwright, director, actor, producer and general manager. During her tenure the company won several awards including the Dora Mavor Moore award for Outstanding New Play, Best of The Fringe, 'Culchivating' the Fringe, NOW Magazine Nominations for Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performance, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Design and Outstanding New Play. The company also received funding from the Toronto and Ontario Arts Councils. Kate's work has been presented at The Toronto International Film Festival, Theatre Passe Muraille, Young People's Theatre, The Vancouver East Cultural Centre, CBS, Lifetime Channel, Discovery and several film festivals across Europe and North America.
