A daring self-starter, actor/filmmaker Kirk Harris recently directed "Dakota" starring Abbie Cornish, Lola Sultan, Patrick Muldoon, Tim Rozon and William Baldwin. The film is being released in the US by Samuel Goldwyn starting in theaters April 1, 2022. Universal owns all International rights. As well, he directed "The Quest for Tom Sawyer's Gold" for Ace Entertainment to be released by Lionsgate in the US. He directed and produced "Bernie The Dolphin" and "Bernie The Dolphin 2" for Ambi Media Group which where released in the US by Lionsgate. He is partnered with Marty Poole in the production-world sales company Fairway Film Alliance. Their endeavors have led to producing fourteen feature films and handling sales on more than seventy titles. Harris founded the production-distribution label Rogue Arts in 2004 which handled films that premiered at Sundance, Toronto, Berlin and the Cannes Film Festivals. Harris starred in several noted indie theatrically released films including "The Kid: Chamaco" (recently re-released as "Gloves of Stone") with Martin Sheen, Alex Perea, Danny Perea, Gustavo Sanchez Parra, Raul Mendez and Michael Madsen. The film was a NY Times and Chicago Tribune "Critic's Pick" in its theatrical run. Writer of five films that have made it to the screen, two spec scripts that were sold to studios and optioned TV Pilots. Kevin Thomas of the LA Times wrote of Harris "As talented an actor as filmmaker" - in his review of Harris' debut feature film "loser" (1996). "loser" premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival. Harris starred with Peta Wilson in the film and it was shot by celebrated cinematographer Kent Wakeford ("Mean Streets", "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"). The former amateur boxer was born in San Bernardino, California. Additionally, Harris competed in football, baseball and wrestled in high school. He considers himself retired from acting and is focused on writing and directing.
