Sheenly Gener
Sheenly Gener is an award-winning actress for the stage, television, and film. She won the Best Supporting Actress award in the QCinema International Film Festival 2017 for her performance in Emerson Reyes' Dormitoryo (Mga Walang Katapusang Kwarto). She was also a Best Actress nominee in the Aliw Awards 2002 for her performance in Insiang, Mario O'hara's stage version of Lino Brocka's film of the same title.
Some of her memorable recent onscreen performances include the badass mother and drug enforcement agent Alda Lacson in Erik Matti's blockbuster hit Buybust; the traumatized wife Linda in Chito Rono's Signal Rock; the teacher battling postpartum depression in Christian Rae Villanueva's Ang Mga Turo ng Gabi; and the inhaler-obsessed lady boss in Fatrick Tabada and Rae Red's Si Chedeng at si Apple.
She has also played notable roles in Lav Diaz' s Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis (as the Virgin of the Colorum) and Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan (as the quiet and secretive Gina); in Sari Estrada's Nasaan si Lolo Me (as the caring mother); and in Paolo O'hara's Nakabibinging Kadiliman (as the visually impaired sister Amanda).
She has also appeared as lead in memorable and award-winning digital and TV ads for McDonald's, Vivo, BDO, Tide, Tang, and Enervon.
Apart from receiving accolades for her own work, she has helped mentor other artists toward memorable and award-winning performances. She was the acting coach for Purok 7's Krystle Valentino and Miggs Cuaderno; 123's Therese Malvar, Barbara Miguel (Best Supporting Actress at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards 2019), and Carlos Dala (Best Actor at the 4th Northern Virginia International Film and Music Festival 2018); Kiko Boksingero's Noel Comia and Yayo Aguila-Martinez (Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, at the Cinemalaya 2017); and The Chanters' Jally Nae Gilbaliga (Best Actress at the QCinema 2017).
Sheenly holds a bachelor's degree in Arts Management from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, where she graduated as a full scholar. She was likewise a full scholar for Theater Arts at the Philippine High School for the Arts. She was a member of the Philippine Educational Theater Association-Metropolitan Teen Theater League in 2002 and a scholar of Tanghalang Pilipino in 2007.
From acting, she is now venturing to filmmaking. She was chosen as one of the finalists for Cinemalaya 2020 and is currently filming her debut directorial full-length feature, Bula Sa Langit. Her short film, Ikahuli, was a finalist in the 31st Gawad Alternatibo and in the .GIFF Festival of New Cinema.
